Number
: number
Values: | Sing | Plur |
This feature typically applies to nouns and other parts of speech that mark agreement with nouns, i.e pronouns, [adjectives] (bm-POS/ADJ) and determiners.
In Bamana, the number marking for non-human is often optional, so the absence of a plural marker does not necessarily mean it is singular.
There are two plural markers: -w and -lù. -lù is less frequent and can be added only to animate nouns.
