As the abessive case, which correlates with English without has been brought together under one name, and Komi attests to two separate formatives, a variant feature has been added with the hope of clarification according to range of usage.
Vclause: -тӧг
The first abessive case (-тӧг) is limited in range to the verbal clause.

- батьтӧгыс локтіс “he/she came without his/her father”
- Мортыс колис документъястӧг “That person was left without documents.”
Nomin: -тӧм
The second abessive case (-тӧм) is limited to the nominal phrase and non-verbal clause.
Examples
- документъястӧм морт сюрис “the person without documents was found.”
- Мортыс документъястӧм “That person is without documents/ has no documents.”
