Voice on French is used only on Verbs for marking the active-passive distinction.
Pass
: passive or patient-focus voice
The subject of the verb is affected by the action (patient). The doer (agent) is either unexpressed or it appears as an oblique dependent or an object of the verb.
Examples
- Dans quel cas Angiox est-il utilisé ? “What is Angiox used for?”
Act
: active voice
The subject of the verb is the doer of the action (agent), the object is affected by the action (patient).
Examples
- Ils ont réalisé un excellent travail. “They did an excellent job.”
